Timberwolves Stun Warriors, Dealing 9th Loss

The Warriors on Thursday missed an opportunity to pass a milestone, which suddenly makes the 73-win mountain immensely higher.

Committing 24 turnovers that led to 31 Minnesota points, the Warriors lost at home for the second time in five days, 124-117 in an overtime shocker before a stunned sellout crowd at Oracle Arena.

The Warriors, who won their first 36 home games, have lost two of their last three after blowing a 17-point third-quarter lead to the Timberwolves.

The loss snaps the Warriors’ 114-game winning streak when leading by at least 15 points.

Shabazz Muhammad came off the bench to score 35 points to pace Minnesota (26-52), which snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Warriors.

Failing to become the second team in NBA history to reach the 70-win mark, the Warriors now must win all four of their remaining games to surpass the 72-10 record of the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls and own the distinction of having the best single-season record in NBA history.

All five Warriors starters scored in double figures, but it was not enough to offset the 31 points Minnesota scored off 24 Warriors turnovers.

Klay Thompson finished with a team-high 28, followed by Stephen Curry with 21, Harrison Barnes with 20, Draymond Green and Andrew Bogut with 10. Shaun Livingston came off the bench to add 14 points.
