Over at Bolts From The Blue, John Gennaro wrote about the play of running back Ryan Mathews:
The Bears lost their third game in four weeks on Sunday and now will be without two of their best players for at least a month. Jay Cutler suffered a torn groin muscle and is expected to miss at least four weeks while Lance Briggs is expected to miss between four and six weeks due to a shoulder injury.
Although Cutler has been somewhat Cheap Fan Jerseys up-and-down this season, he’s played better under first-year head coach Marc Trestman. The Bears are on a bye this week, but the 30-year-old Cutler will likely miss at least three games, including two against division opponents. Josh McCown is expected to fill in while Cutler is out.
The 32-year-old Briggs will not need surgery, but is still expected to miss more than a month. Chicago has had significant issues on the defensive side of the ball this year and losing Briggs will only compound those problems.
Lester A. Wiltfong Jr. of Windy City Gridiron expects rookie Jon Bostic to play a larger role with Briggs out.
